Your first long EV road trip — how did it go?

A lot of people on here said range anxiety disappears after your first proper trip, but I'm still nervous about planning a 300-mile run from Manchester to Cornwall this summer.

What was your first long EV trip like? How much planning did you actually need, and what would you tell a first-timer?

Done Manchester to Cornwall twice. Honestly the apps make it easy now — plan around rapid chargers on the M5/M6 corridors. Leave with 100%, one 30-min stop mid-way and you're fine. The anxiety disappears after stop one.

Alright mun. Took the EV6 down to Cardiff Bay for the rugby, then up the valleys. Tidy trip, to be fair! Used InstaVolt at Newport and Gridserve at Gloucester. Cost me about £18 on DC rapid, dead cheap. I reckon the 800V charging is an absolute game changer, no queues at all. Valleys boys can't argue with that! How did you find the charger reliability on your route, Sparky?

Spot on, Dave. My first long run in the Cupra Born (after ditching my old Zoe) was down to Cornwall. I reckon InstaVolt chargers are dead handy, though Gridserve is top tier for grabbing a vegan sausage roll! Stopped by the Clifton Suspension Bridge on the way back and cycled round the gorge to stretch the legs. Cost me about £15 on a 220-mile run. To be fair, not bad at all. Cheers mate!
