Part exchange or private sale - which worked better for you?

Thinking about selling my ID.3 to upgrade. Dealer's offered me a part exchange figure that feels low but I can't be bothered with the hassle of private sale - the time wasters, the test drives, the 'will you take £500 less' texts. What's everyone's experience? Is the extra grand worth the aggro?

Private sale all the way for me. Sold my Born's predecessor (an old Golf) privately for £1,800 more than the dealer offered. Yes there were two time wasters but the third person bought it in a day. Just be patient.

I part exchanged and honestly no regrets. With work and kids I don't have the time. The dealer gave me a fair-ish price and I drove away in the new car the same day. Time is money.

I did both - got quotes from Motorway and Carwow before deciding. They both beat the dealer's part exchange offer and it was way less hassle than I expected. Worth trying before you commit.
