Model 3 pre-conditioning eating the bloody battery before I even set off?

Ey up. It’s absolutely brass monkeys out there in Leeds this morning, lad. Got in the Model 3 and the bloody pre-conditioning had kicked in at 6 AM, but it’s chewed through 15% of the battery just warming the pack before I even turned the wipers on! My energy tariff isn't exactly dirt cheap right now, so I swear the car is just wasting my hard-earned cash. Drove down the A1(M) to Ferrybridge Gridserve later, and the range was looking grim with the cabin heater on full blast. Is this just how it is when it drops below freezing, or is my thermal management playing up? Anyone else seeing this massive drop just from pre-heating the battery?
