Is it just me or are the rapid chargers up the North Devon coast a total rip-off?

Right, bit of a moan. Was taking the Ioniq 5 down the A361 towards Bideford, absolutely crawling through the narrow lanes because some tourist couldn't reverse. Stopped for a cream tea in Clovelly, but it cost me 4% range just sitting with the climate on!

Ended up at the Gridserve in Barnstaple with 8% battery, queuing 20 minutes. They're charging 79p a kWh on the pay-as-you-go tariff now, absolute daylight robbery. I'm looking at getting an InstaVolt subscription to bring the cost down for my daily coastal roads commute, but the monthly fees seem steep. Anyone else out west finding the rapid network totally inadequate? What subscription are you using to avoid these crazy pay-as-you-go rates?

Aye, couldn't agree more, Dawn. Took the Polestar 2 down to Ilfracombe last summer and nearly choked on my whisky when the InstaVolt screen flashed up 79p/kWh. Absolute daylight robbery. I reckon the English drivers down there just put up with it, but us Scots know a bad deal when we see one. Back home near Edinburgh or up the Highlands, Gridserve is miles better. Why pay that when you can plan around Intelligent Octopus?

Ey up. You're dead right, lad. Was down in Bude last week, bloody freezing rain lashing down, and tried to top up the Model 3 on an InstaVolt. 79p a kWh! Absolute daylight robbery. I reckon if you're not on a proper tariff like Octopus Intelligent at home, these coastal rapid networks will bleed you dry.
