Is Instavolt up in the Highlands actually 79p/kWh now, or am I being scammed?

Right, took the Polestar 2 up to Ullapool for a weekend of whisky tasting and driving the NC500. Stopped at the Instavolt in Invergordon to top up. Plugged in, and the screen flashed up 79p per kWh! Absolute daylight robbery. Back home in Edinburgh, I’m on Octopus Intelligent at 7p, and even my standard unit rate is peanuts. The car was at 18%, so I needed about 40kWh to get me through the Highlands, which would’ve cost me over thirty quid just for a quick top-up. Don't get me started on the English drivers who think a 50kW charger in a Tesco car park is 'rapid' while paying a fiver. Anyone else getting fleeced up north, or is there a better network before I head to John o' Groats?

Oh dear, 79p/kWh sounds dreadful, Scotty! We don't have InstaVolt down here in Norfolk, just the odd Pod Point near the church hall. I reckon the Highlands markup is just to cover the grid connections, to be fair. My Leaf manages fine on country lanes back home, but I'd stick to Intelligent Octopus for my home charging before the village fair. Have you tried the Gridserve hubs down south? Much cheaper. Do take care driving up there, dear!

Cheers mate. I reckon 79p is standard for InstaVolt now, though it stings compared to Intelligent Octopus. To be fair, up in the Highlands you lack Gridserve options. I only pay that when touring near the Clifton Suspension Bridge or further north, needing a rapid top-up for the Cupra Born (upgraded from my Zoe!). At least the vegan sausage rolls keep me going.
