InstaVolt at Aylsham Tesco charging 79p a kWh now - just me or are they getting greedy?

Well dear, I popped over to the Aylsham Tesco today after the church flower arranging and the village fair. My little Nissan Leaf was showing about 40 miles of range left, which is always a bit nerve-wracking on these narrow country lanes. I thought I’d use the InstaVolt rapid to top up. Honestly, the app was an absolute faff! It kept saying my card was declined. I had to use the contactless, but they’re charging a whopping 79p per kWh now, aren't they? I’m on Octopus Intelligent Go at home, paying just 7p, so it feels like daylight robbery for a quick splash and dash. Does anyone else find the rapid networks are just getting greedier by the week, or am I just being a grumpy old woman?

79p? Absolute robbery, that. I reckon InstaVolt’s having a laugh. Back here in MCR, it’s pissing it down as usual, so I’d rather charge on Intelligent Octopus at home for pennies than pay that. If I’m out near the Curry Mile after a City match, I’m not stopping at a rapid unless desperate. 79p would drain the wallet faster than my ID.3 drains its battery in the cold! Stick to Gridserve if you can, Nora.

Oh Nora, I couldn't agree more! 79p is absolutely scandalous. Took the Mini Electric towards the South Downs recently and had to use an InstaVolt. Ended up paying nearly £12 for a quick top-up before the Brighton farmers market! I reckon I'll just stick to my Octopus Go tariff at home from now on. Off to my vinyasa yoga class now, but totally with you on this!

Dead right, Nora. 79p is an absolute rip-off, I reckon InstaVolt are taking the mickey. I’ve switched to Intelligent Octopus for my Cupra Born – took over from my old Zoe – and charge at home mostly. When I’m out, Gridserve is usually fairer. Cycling over the Clifton Suspension Bridge is my daily commute anyway! Cheers mate, grab a vegan sausage roll from the Tesco cafe while you're there!

79p? Blimey, that’s steep. InstaVolt is definitely getting greedy. I reckon I’ll just stick to my Octopus Go tariff at home. Honestly, juggling the ULEZ, parking nightmares, and my busy London life is stressful enough without getting fleeced for a flat white and a quick top-up. My Atto 3 barely needs public chargers anyway since I usually take the tube when I'm actually moving fast! Gridserve is much better value when I do escape the city.
