Overview

The BYD Seal is a sleek, stylish electric saloon that takes aim squarely at the Tesla Model 3 and largely hits the mark. The rear-wheel-drive Design version pairs an 82.5kWh Blade battery with a WLTP range of up to 354 miles, while the twin-motor Excellence adds all-wheel drive, 523bhp and a 3.8-second 0-62mph sprint. DC charging at up to 150kW restores 10-80 per cent in around 37 minutes, and the car supports vehicle-to-load power output. Inside, the Seal impresses with a rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen, a panoramic glass roof, ventilated and heated electric front seats, and a premium Dynaudio sound system, all wrapped in a well-appointed, comfortable cabin with space for five. With cutting-edge LFP battery technology, a generous specification and strong value against German rivals, the Seal is one of the most compelling electric saloons available in the UK.
