What does WLTP range mean?
WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure) is the official European lab test for measuring EV range, conducted at 23°C. It's more realistic than the older NEDC test but still represents ideal conditions — real-world range varies with temperature, speed, terrain and how you drive.
How is winter range calculated?
The winter range estimate is based on real-world data from multiple sources, including Recurrent's 2025–26 study of 30,000+ EVs and the NAF/Motor.no El Prix winter test in Norway. Average range retention is roughly: 100% at 20–25°C, ~92% at 10°C, ~78% at 0°C, ~70% at -5°C, ~60% at -10°C, ~52% at -15°C, ~45% at -20°C. Actual results vary by vehicle — cars with heat pumps typically retain 8–10% more range than those with resistive heaters.
Does DC charging speed tell the whole story?
Peak kW is a useful headline number, but what matters more in practice is the average charging speed across the full 10–80% curve and how quickly the power tapers off. Cars that maintain high power at higher state of charge (like Hyundai/Kia's 800V E-GMP platform) can charge faster in real life than cars with a higher peak that drops off quickly.
Is the price the actual on-the-road price?
Prices shown are manufacturer's starting prices for the base trim. On-the-road price also includes registration fee, number plates, first year VED and optional extras. EVs currently pay £10 first-year VED (2026/27).
