Xiaomi Auto took its first public step towards international expansion on 26 August 2026, launching a global website and overseas social media channels that officially confirm plans to enter Europe in 2027. The English-language site, at xiaomiauto.com, carries the message "Officially coming to Europe in 2027" on its homepage.
What the new global website shows
The site presents Xiaomi Auto's brand story, engineering milestones and global research and development network for the first time in a single international hub. Models and projects featured on the homepage include the Xiaomi SU7, SU7 Ultra, YU7 GT, Sky Nomad and the Vision Gran Turismo concept supercar.
Beyond marketing, the website includes a dealer and distribution inquiry portal for potential partners - an early signal that Xiaomi is already building its European sales channel before cars go on sale. Local businesses interested in working with the brand can contact the company at Autopartners@xiaomi.com.
Germany first, UK expected from 2028
Xiaomi has confirmed Germany as its first overseas market, with sales scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027. Under the broader plan disclosed at Xiaomi's Investor Day, the company will begin overseas operations in the third or fourth quarter of 2027, with Europe as its first region - and expand into right-hand-drive markets including the UK, Australia and Japan in the first half of 2028.
The company has been preparing for this for some time. Its European R&D centre in Munich is led by former BMW executive Rudolf Dittrich, and the team includes designers recruited from BMW, Porsche and Lamborghini. Xiaomi Group president Lu Weibing visited Germany in November 2025 to test-drive the SU7 and said the company would devote significant resources to its 2027 European expansion.

A strong domestic base
Xiaomi's entry into Europe will be backed by a substantial home-market record. The company had delivered more than 700,000 vehicles in China as of 30 July 2026, including 381,000 units of the first-generation SU7, and cumulative deliveries of the SU7 series passed 500,000 units on 17 August. The SU7 was the best-selling car above 200,000 yuan in China in 2025, and the SU7 Ultra set the production EV lap record at the N\u00fcrburgring with a 7:04.957 lap time.
Xiaomi's smartphone business already operates in more than 100 countries, giving it established overseas sales channels, after-sales networks and localised teams that could be leveraged for its automotive expansion.
What it means for UK buyers
For UK drivers, the news is positive but patient: Xiaomi's first European wave targets Germany in late 2027, with right-hand-drive markets like the UK expected from the first half of 2028. That timeline means British buyers could see the SU7 - a car that has been one of China's most popular EVs - on UK roads within two years.
